The Lifestyle Medicine Consultation
A focused, doctor-led health review
A single Lifestyle Medicine consultation is for people who want clarity, context, and expert input, without committing to ongoing care.
This is not a rushed appointment or a generic health MOT.
You will spend 45 minutes with Dr Shaw, reviewing your current health, medical history, lifestyle, and goals in detail. The aim is to identify the key factors most likely to be limiting your health, performance, or long-term resilience, and to give you clear, prioritised next steps.
This consultation works well if you:
-
Want a professional review of your current health and lifestyle
-
Have results from previous blood tests, wearables, or scans you want interpreted properly
-
Feel “mostly well” but know something could be optimised
-
Want a second opinion or a joined-up view of your health
-
Prefer a one-off, in-depth consultation rather than ongoing follow-up
You will leave with practical, evidence-based recommendations that you can act on immediately, with the option to add investigations or follow-up only if they are genuinely useful.

What is Lifestyle Medicine
Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based, doctor-led approach to preventing, managing, and even reversing many long-term conditions. It focuses on six key pillars of health: nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, healthy relationships, and avoiding harmful substances.
At New Jackson Healthcare, lifestyle medicine is always personal. You’ll work one-to-one with a doctor to make sustainable changes that improve how you feel day-to-day, while protecting your long-term health. All delivered face-to-face from our central Manchester clinic.
The 6 Pillars of Health

Sleep
Good sleep is the foundation of health but it’s something many of us neglect.. It restores your body, balances hormones, and sharpens your mind.

Social Connection
Strong relationships are one of the most powerful predictors of long life and happiness. Feeling connected and supported is just as important as diet and exercise.

Avoiding Risky Substances
Cutting down on smoking, alcohol, and other harmful substances removes barriers to health and helps your body function at its best.

Nutrition
Food isn’t just fuel. The right balance of whole, unprocessed foods gives your body what it needs to thrive and lowers the risk of disease.

Movement
Exercise isn’t about punishing workouts. Regular movement — whether that’s walking, cycling, lifting weights, or dancing — keeps your heart, muscles, and mind strong.

Stress Management
Modern life is stressful, but how we respond matters. Managing stress protects your heart, brain, and relationships, and helps you feel more in control.
